Dental Cleanings and Exams
What are Dental Cleanings and Exams?
Both professional cleanings and dental exams are part of preventing a range of oral problems and conditions. The dental cleaning helps to prevent decay and gum disease by keeping your teeth clean and healthy. The exam is necessary for spotting cavities, signs of loose restorations and even oral cancer that could be treated with early detection. It is important to make it a habit to come into our office twice a year for this preventative care.
Why are Dental Cleanings and Exams needed?
Each member of your family should be making it a habit to have bi-annual exams and dental cleanings. They are necessary in protecting your teeth and finding problems early so that treatment is both easier and more successful. We work to make your visit with us comfortable, calm and relaxing. We offer preventative care to each member of your family regardless of age.
My 3 year old daughter went in today to treat decay. It was her first dental treatment. From front office to assistant and Dr Ong did amazing job on her. Highly recommend this place:)
What makes you a good candidate for Dental Cleanings and Exams?
Everyone is a good candidate to have a dental exam and cleaning done. Exams and cleanings should be done as early as one to two years old and can be beneficial even as you continue to age. Even patients who wear dentures will benefit from routine dental examinations to check gum and bone health. Cleanings and exams are personalized to each patient, since everyone needs slightly different treatment.
What happens during routine Dental Cleanings and Exams?
You will first come into our office and be greeted by one of our friendly staff members. We will take x-rays to help in diagnosing certain conditions and to get a deeper view of your teeth, gums and bone. Next, the licensed hygienist will perform a professional cleaning by removing hardened plaque as well as tartar. The teeth are polished to a high shine and flossed. Your gums will be checked and measured to look for signs of gingivitis and gum disease. Next, our doctor will come into the room and examine your teeth, gums and mouth. The entire procedure takes about an hour in our office and can be pre-scheduled for your convenience.
If you would like to schedule an appointment for a dental cleaning and exam, call our office today and we will be happy to help in further assisting you.
